Mocatta, Frederick David

(1828-1905)
   English philanthropist, scholar and communal leader. He was active in the Charity Organization Society and the Jewish Board of Guardians. An observant Jew, he was a member of Orthodox as well as Reform synagogues. He donated his library to University College, London, and the Jewish Historical Society of England. His writings include The Jews and the Inquisition.
